On the Left Bank of Paris, nearly 1800 works, belonging to the fields of sculpture, painting, architecture, decorative and graphic arts and photography, offer a comprehensive view of artistic creation from 1848 to 1914.
The world's largest collection of Impressionist works is housed in this illustrious institution.
Courbet's The Origin of the World, Manet's The Luncheon on the Grass and Olympia, Monet's Rouen Cathedral series, and many other masterpieces are on display.
The Musée d’Orsay, named after the adjacent quay, the Quai d’Orsay, moved into the former Orsay train station in 1986. Built in 1900, the station remained in operation until 1939.
From 2009 to 2011, part of the museum underwent renovations. The Impressionist and Post-Impressionist galleries, the Pavillon Amont, and the Café de l’Horloge were completely redesigned.
The result is a resounding success: a more coherent visitor experience, beautifully displayed artworks, and more comfortable spaces.

Museum and exhibition opening hours
Open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Thursday.
Tickets on sale until 5:00 p.m., and until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Close every Monday, May 1st, and December 25th.
How to get to the Louvre Museum from the Hôtel Jardin Le Bréa?
Musée d'Orsay - Esplanade Valéry Giscard d'Estaing 75007 Paris
- From the Hôtel Jardin Le Bréa, take metro line 12 from Notre-Dame-des-Champs (5-minute walk), towards Mairie d'Aubervilliers, and get off at the Solférino station. The museum is then a 5-minute walk from there.
The total travel time from our hotel to the Musée d'Orsay by metro is approximately 15 minutes.
